Sailing Club Activities

Members get involved in the sailing community by choosing from the many club-sponsored activities to include: Capri 22 One Design Racing, group sails, women’s sailing and clinics. Please contact the office at 619-291-9568 or Contact Us for fees, times and further details.

Clinics, racing, group sails and other activities are specially designed to satisfy all of our member’s nautical ambitions. Unfortunately without participation and advance registration, these programs will cancel. Additional staff and scheduling is required to run all activities. Please take a closer look at all activities and call the office immediately to register. If you have suggestions for other events, we value your opinions and feedback.

toursJoin fellow sailors for an exhilarating day of sailing on the bay or along the coastline. Kick back, relax and enjoy the ride or steer and trim the sails under the guidance of a licensed captain. This is a great opportunity to experience the larger boats, meet other members and pick up a few new skills.

crewMeet new sailing friends, experience the fleet and save money! How it works: Go to the Members Only Forum, Sign In (top right corner) Create Account on the Forum and post the who, what, when, # of crew and the size boat you are interested in sailing. Don’t forget your phone # and email address. Once you are posted, members will in turn contact you when “looking for crew.”
wowThe W.O.W. program is designed to sharpen boat-handling skills and increase on-the-water time for all female sailors. If you are ASA 101 Basic Keelboat certified you have met the pre-requisite. Several skills will be introduced on a 28′ or larger yacht in a supportive environment.
navJoin us on the night of the full moon as we sail offshore and return observing the navigational aids of the San Diego Bay. Gain valuable nighttime sailing experience and enjoy the beauty of the full moon over the bay. Reserve a spot today and become a nocturnal sailor!
extremeExtreme Sailing Extreme weather comes but once or twice a year. Experience high winds and cloudy conditions, with a chance of showers. A licensed captain and six sailors will enjoy rough seas and howling winds while learning more about big boat extreme weather sailing. Dates and times TBD by rough sea’s; don’t forget to pack your foulies! Call or email the office to join our “24-hour notice” email list.
whaleJoin our seasonal offshore group sails to view the Gray Whales as they begin their annual migration from Alaska to Baja California where their breeding grounds lie. These whales may grow anywhere from 30 to 50 feet in length and live an average of 40 years. Their migratory route ranges from 10.000 to 14.000 miles round trip, which is the longest route ever recorded for a mammal. California Gray Whales can be found just a few miles off of Point Loma. Whale Watching Season runs January-March.

This instructor led clinic will review in depth, wind shifts, tides and currents while learning the importance of reefing and heaving to.

Master the art of anchoring and docking. Review sail trim and systems on a 28′- 32’ yacht.

Feeling a little rusty? Dust off your deck shoes and join an instructor for a 2- hour Capri 22 Refresher.

Bareboat Trouble Shooting

Increase knowledge while building confidence in this 4-hour powerful clinic. Clear up all the potential “What if’s”. Review systems, practice anchoring and docking a 40′ yacht.

Knots for Everyone
