Team Harbor Sailboats took third out of fourteen boats in cruising class 1 aboard the Oceanis 41, Sweet Denyse. Beneteau cup was created to take Beneteau owners out of their norm and put them on a race course outside Point Loma for two days of excited sailing. Each year the event has grown, sailors have gotten better, parties have gotten bigger and people cant wait until the next year.
The 2015 edition brought nearly 50 Beneteaus all sailing out of the San Diego Yacht Club mixed into 4 different fleets. First 36.7 (one design), First Class 2, Cruising 1, and Cruising 2. Harbor Sailboats was placed in Cruise 1 with 3 other Oceanis 41’s and all other cruisers under 45 feet, we we’re the only Oceanis 41 not to have a spinnaker, OUCH!!! Despite being very slow downwind and unable to hold certain lanes due to the lack of a spinnaker, we still sailed well enough to get on the podium. It was tough for everyone to hold back the smiles; especially when we backed the boat into the San Diego Yacht Club, dropped the swim platform and were greeted with well deserved refreshments!
Thanks to everyone who made the event possible and to the 5 club members who joined Kyle and Keenan on the water that weekend. Till next year!
